3D Embossed Text Effect

3D Text Effect

Today we'll learn how to achieve the above effect without the use of a plug-in.

Select the Text tool icon. Click the Color Picker in the Text palette and change the RGB to R: 240, G: 227, B: 28. You may use any color you wish, but I'm using gold for this example. Select a large font, I used Arial Black 72 point. Type out your text.

Click the color picker on the toolbar, and set the same color as above. Click the Shapes icon Shapes, and drag out a box directly over your text, but about 10 pixels larger in every direction. Right click this box and click, Send to Back.

Select both sprites now, by dragging a box around both of them.

Click the Effects tool icon Effects. Select Bas Relief, Details tab. Set the following numbers: Detail: 13, Light Position: Bottom, Smoothness: 3, and the opacity slider: 100. With your sprites selected, click Apply. De-select the sprites by clicking anywhere off them and then drag the text sprite away from the rectangle.
