Okay, okay, I'll fess up. You can also make these in a circle shape, but I'm too lazy to redo this page and buttons! Sorry. Just know that anywhere you see me reference "oval" you could substitute "circle" if you want.
Let's begin. Using your Shapes tool, drag out an oval shape in the size you want. The color won't matter right now, so make it anything you like.
Select the Effects tool
and go to Gradient. Click the Details tab and select the Gradient
Name/Grayscale Left/Apply. Make sure your sprite is selected.
Duplicate this by holding down the Crtl key and then pressing the D key.
With this sprite selected, click the Arrange tool
and then click the
Flip triangle in the top right corner . Note, if you hold your pointer over it, it
says Flip Horizontally
.
Again, in the Arrange tool palette, change the Units: to Percent. Then set Width: 80 and click Apply.
You should now have 2 sprites like this:
![]()
Now simply place the smaller sprite over the larger sprite and use the arrow keys to align them just right. You may want to press and hold the space bar while you do this to hide the bounding box. Now select them both and flatten them. Presto! 3-D button!
What's that you ask, how do you color them? Simple. With the color you want selected in the color swatch and your sprite selected, select the Effects tool/Tint/Details/80/Apply.
